2009-M-108             State of Minnesota, Respondent, vs. Michael Joseph Hall, Jr., Appellant.

A Ramsey County jury found appellant Michael Joseph Hall, Jr., guilty of first-degree premeditated murder in connection with the shooting death of Shawn Moore.  Hall brings this direct appeal challenging a number of the district court’s evidentiary rulings and he argues that the jury instructions were erroneous.  We affirm.

First, the district court did not commit prejudicial error in the admission of evidence.

Second, the district court did not abuse its discretion in instructing the jury on the duty to retreat applicable to the legal excuse of self-defense.

Third, the cumulative effect of any errors is not such that the appellant is entitled to a new trial.
